How is disc brake different from drum brake?
1. Braking force. The disc brake does not have the automatic braking effect of the drum brake, and the friction area between the brake pads and the disc of the disc brake is smaller than that of the drum brake. Therefore, the disc brake has a lower braking force than the drum brake .
2. Heat dissipation. Compared with drum brakes, disc brakes have an exhaust port, which can dissipate heat quickly. Therefore, heat dissipation is better than drum brakes. It is not easy to cause brake failure and brake failure when stepping on the brake continuously.
3. Braking power. Disc brakes do not have the friction boosting effect of drum brakes, so the braking power of the left and right wheels is relatively average.
4. Drainage. Rotary disc brakes have better drainage, which can reduce the situation of poor braking caused by water or sediment.
5. Construction. Compared with drum brakes, disc brakes have a simpler structure, are easier to implement automatic clearance adjustment, and are easier to maintain, but have higher maintenance costs. The processing and composition of drum brake parts are relatively simple, and there are relatively low manufacturing costs. However, there are many complicated parts, and the brake clearance must be adjusted, making maintenance difficult.
6. Installation. The handbrake device of the disc brake is not easy to install. Some models using disc brakes on the rear wheels have a handbrake mechanism of a drum brake for this purpose.
